Marseille reactivates the track of an international
OM Mercato: While Olympique de Marseille has just recruited Nuno Tavares from Arsenal, an old Marseille track is heating up.
OM Mercato: Olympique de Marseille relaunches the Glen Kamara file
OM have hired Nuno Tavares, a left-back from Arsenal. Hot on the heels of the official announcement of the 22-year-old Portuguese’s signing, Olympique de Marseille have revived one of their oldest avenues leading into midfield Glen Kamara. According to information from 90 minutes, the Marseille club is one of the many courtiers of the Glasgow Rangers player. Pablo Longoria would push his pawns discreetly to attract the Finnish international (46 caps) to the Commanderie.
As indicated, this is not the first time that OM have been interested in Glen Kamara. The Olympians had already tried to recruit him during the 2020 summer transfer window, but in vain. Two years later, the 26-year-old has a solid contract in Scotland (until 2025) and there are more clubs chasing him, which is not good news for Marseille.
Strong competition over the Glasgow Rangers player
The source reveals the interest of three English clubs: Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth and Brighton, but also RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, the German championship. And that’s not all ! US Salernitana (promoted to Serie A in 2021) and Galatasaray in Turkey are also in the running to secure the services of the midfielder targeted by OM.
Faced with his competitors, some of whom are sizeable, Pablo Longoria must be persuasive in this file which promises to be apparently complicated for the president of Marseille. Crack of the Rangers team, Glen Kamara played 52 games last season, including 28 in the league and 14 in the Europa League, including in the final lost against Eintracht Frankfurt on penalties (6-5), at the stadium Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan of Seville. Note that the Finn’s market value is estimated at €7.5m.
