From Monday, doctors and nursing staff will continue to work at the Salzburg state clinics, even if they are infected with CoV. However, you must not have any contact with patients and also not have any symptoms. Otherwise they will continue to be quarantined. The works council welcomes the new regulation.
Contact between infected specialists and patients is still not wanted in the Salzburg state clinics, says clinic spokesman Wolfgang Fürweger. From Monday, infected people without symptoms have to work where they do not meet patients – in laboratories or offices, for example.
Symptoms Leg Next Traffic Restriction
Infected nursing staff will still not work at the bedside, says spokesman Fürweger: “Unfortunately, the new regulation only brings partial relief. Because no infected people are allowed to work on the hospital beds. The new regulation will certainly relieve us in administration, because there were always cases of infection there too.”
Union sees great relief
As chairman of the employee works council, Markus Pitterka welcomes the relaxation of the quarantine rules. Instead of being locked away, there should be normality again.
The exceptional rule that extremely important personnel may work directly at the bedside in emergencies has already applied. However, no use has been made of this in recent years, says the spokesman for the state clinics.
Clinic not at the limit
In the Salzburg state clinics, the number of absent infected people is currently limited. As of Wednesday, 18 doctors and 51 nurses were considered infected. For comparison: 578 nurses are currently on vacation.
“We are currently running our operating theaters at 75 percent capacity, which is not unusual for the summer. Many people don’t want to have elective surgery during the hot season,” says spokesman Fürweger. There are usually only acute failures of operations – for example, if a surgeon is unable to work at short notice due to a CoV infection.
