Slovak tennis player Renáta Jamrichová is fighting for a medal in singles at the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Banská Bystrica, and together with her compatriot Daniel Balaščák, they already have a certain minimum silver in the mix.
First, on Thursday, Jamrichová won in the singles quarterfinals in the position of the seeded unit over Ire Kurtová from Turkey 6:4, 4:6 and 6:3 and advanced to the top quartet. The Slovak tennis player lost the first ever set at the tournament.
Subsequently, Jamrichová played two more matches in the mix with her compatriot Balaščák. In the quarterfinals, they defeated the Swedish pair of Linea Bajraliuová and Patrik Munkhammar 5:7, 6:4, 10:4. In the second half, they dealt with the Finnish duo of Linus Lagerbohm and Daria Bibaninová after another dramatic battle 7:5, 6:7 (3) and 10:6 in the championship tiebreak. On Friday, they will fight for the gold, in the final they will meet the Romanian couple Gabriel Ghetu, Eva Ionescuová.
