Quint-Fonsegrives. Boxer Théo Ticout at Paris 2024
Our correspondent recently met Théo Ticout, a young 22-year-old high-level boxer, newly domiciled in Quint-Fonsegrives.
Native of Vendée, Théo arrived in Montauban with his mother at the age of 10, to be closer to his family. He finished all his schooling in this city and started the sport in a football club before following friends who directed him to boxing.
He then, at the age of 14, joined the MBA (Montauban boxing), where his potential was quickly detected, allowing him to be quickly propelled towards the departmental and regional championships. He was first champion of Midi-Pyrénées, then of Occitanie in his category (bantamweight, – 51 kg). Then he participated in the French championship and was admitted to the French team in 2019, with the aim of integrating Insep de Vincennes, of which he is now a resident.
Vice-champion of France and 5th European, he participated in several international fights and training courses (Cuba and Russia in particular) and was thus able to confront the best boxers in the world.
Olympic champion ?
Théo now intends to take the steps that will lead him to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. There are three contenders for this qualification, and his two competitors being like him residents of Insep, he rubs shoulders with them every day during school time, they are friends, but it is the law of sport that will make the difference, the law of the strongest!
During the school holidays Théo trains at Boxoum, the Toulouse club of Sofiane Oumiha, Olympic vice-champion. Théo is a very friendly, reserved and rather shy boy, he is not the type to display his knowledge, it took a long time to question him to obtain all this information about him, but he willingly agreed to this interview. from our correspondent. We wish him good luck and hope that thanks to him Quint-Fonsegrives will have its first Olympic champion.
