Most of the production takes place here in Switzerland
The future is yours: Hundreds of apartments are being built in the municipalities of Asch BL, Frick AG and Niederbipp BE.
So far, construction hotspots in Switzerland have been in the immediate vicinity of the major centers: in some cases, more than 30 percent of the housing stock has been approved in recent years. Most of the living space was created in Bülach ZH and Dübendorf ZH in German-speaking Switzerland.
It will change. Construction cranes will now not only tower in the pole silhouette, but especially in rural communities. This shows a new assessment by UBS.
Start of construction in Bern and Baselland
Several new apartments are being built in north-western Switzerland, for example Asch BL, Frick AG, Niederbipp BE or Kaiserrogst AG. In addition to Appenzel and Buch SG, Eastern Switzerland is also on the map of new construction hotspots.
In the Canton of Zurich, the focus is on Illnau-Afreticon and Wetzikon in the Oberland and on Birmensdorf in the Limmat Valley.
Since mid-2020, planning applications for more than 100 new apartments per year have been submitted in all of the communities designated by UBS as construction hotspots. In Frick, for example, more than 350 apartments will come onto the market in the next few years, according to regional media.
The situation is similar with single-family houses. In the next few years, these will also be built mainly in rural areas around Willisau lu, Lucerne, Aarau, Olten s and Will sg. More than 100 single-family homes are being built there.
Working from home is having an impact on construction activity
The Ministry of the Interior is also concerned that more will be built in the future away from the large centers: since the outbreak of the pandemic, living and working have been separate.
Boom communities have already experienced average population growth in recent years. Therefore, the new living space should not be empty for long.
