Football: Benezet uncertain for the arrival of Caen, Ueda package, recruitment, the latest news from Nîmes Olympique
The croco midfielder, injured during the preparation match against Annecy on July 9, still feels discomfort in his right ankle. Victim of a muscle injury to the right calf, the Japanese defender, he was out for several weeks.
He trained (almost) normally this Thursday, July 28. But he was careful to use only his left foot. Victim of a sprained right ankle on July 9, during the preparation match against Annecy (2-0 defeat), Nicolas Benezet is “no longer injured but he still feels discomfort”, explained the coach of Nîmes Olympique Nicolas Usaï after the session. It is therefore “uncertainty” as to the participation of the captain croco for the opening of the Ligue 2 championship against Caen, this Saturday July 30 at Costières.

“As soon as I make the slightest movement, it throws me, it sends juice”, specified Wednesday at Midi Libre the player, who was already sure not to be able to start the meeting: “It would not help my team. game, yes, I hope so.” The decision whether or not to integrate Nicolas Benezet into the croco group will be taken tomorrow, after the last training session (9 am at La Bastide). “He must have good feelings to pretend to play, concluded Nicolas Usaï. I need 100% elements. Nico is big enough for me to tell me what it is.”

Ueda over four to six weeks
If Benezet is uncertain, Ueda is forfeited. The Japanese defender injured his right calf on Saturday during the last preparation match against UNFP (4-2 victory). He suffers from a “grade 2-3” muscle injury, said Nicolas Usaï and will be absent “four to six weeks”. Will this absence encourage Nîmes Olympique, which has decided to play with a three-man defense this season, to recruit another central defender? “We did not set ourselves on fire after the injury of Naomichi (Ueda) but it is an axis of reflection”, replied the Nîmes coach, assuming that he could also use Labonne or even Burner in the axis if necessary or even return to a four-man defense…
A registered offensive player?
If he said he was “satisfied” with his current workforce, Nicolas Usaï nevertheless specified that he had to “be on alert” and be ready to compensate for possible departures (Benrahou? Eliasson?). And he did not hide that a “reflection to rebalance” his group was engaged, evoking the authorization to take “an offensive player with a determined profile”, capable of bringing depth and speed.
