The first Cybersecurity graduate in Pisa
The master’s course in Cybersecurityactivated in 2020 at the University of Pisa, has his first graduate: Emanuele Albertosi in fact, he obtained his degree on Tuesday 26 July, discussing a thesis on an augmented reality application to ensure IT security in the Dini Engineering Hall. He graduated with the professor Gian Luigi Ferrarifull professor of Computer Science, as supervisor, and doctors Alessandro Bocci And Stefano Forti, respectively PhD student and researcher in Computer Science, as co-supervisors. The rector chaired the commission for the graduation exam Paolo Maria Mancarella.
Emanuele Albertosi, born in Massa in 1977, graduated from the three-year course of Computer Science inat the University of Milan. ICT professional with numerous work experiences accumulated after the three-year degreehe decided to leave his job to acquire advanced and innovative skills for the master’s degree course at the University of Pisa. In his thesis work he dealt with the issue of security, which represents one of the most difficult requirements to guarantee in current IT systems, for applications installed on large-scale networks and with numerous nodes and heterogeneous resources. In this context, the study implemented an augmented reality and used it to evaluate a methodology, recently proposed by researchers at the University of Pisa, on which devices to safely use the different functions that use the application. application, considering hardware, software and latency requirements. He then conducted several experiments and attack simulations to show how proper installation of the components can avoid risky, and sorry, leaks of sensitive data.
The master’s degree program in Cybersecurity was in Italy to offer training not only on the classic aspects related to software, such as the security of data, programs, operating systems and communication systems, but also on the first ones concerning hardware, such as electronic devices, signal propagation and biometric systems. It is managed jointly by the departments of Information Engineering and Computer Science and was born on the initiative of the rector Paolo Maria Mancarella and the former directors of the departments involved, the professors Gian Luigi Ferrari And Giuseppe Anastasi.
“This is an international course of study, delivered in English – commented the professor Stefano Chessa, president of the course – who immediately received an appreciation from students, attracting a percentage of about 40% of the total number of students from other Italian and international universities. It currently has 84 students divided between the first and second year, with a strong preponderance (about 83%) of students from outside the “local basin” of the provinces of Pisa, Livorno and Lucca, and with a significant share of approximately 17% of students with citizenship “.
