Towards a long absence for Veainu
Stade Français Paris will have to start the 2022-2023 season without Telusa Veainu. Established with Tonga this Saturday on the occasion of the match against Hong Kong which offered the Pacific selection its ticket for the next World Cup, the Parisian winger had to leave the lawn of the Sunshine Coast Stadium, located in the Australian city of Kawana Waters, five minutes from the end of the meeting. Visibly affected in one knee, Telusa Veainu then underwent examinations, the results of which confirmed the seriousness of the injury suffered by the 31-year-old player. Indeed, the native of the New Zealand city of Kawakawa suffers from a rupture of the cruciate ligaments of the knee which was affected. According to information from the specialized site Rugbyrama, Telusa Veainu will wait to be returned to France before undergoing an operation. The duration of unavailability of the Tongan international is already estimated at six months. Which means that the Parisian winger will not find the lawns of the Top 14 before the start of the year 2023.

Quesada will rely on his group
Influential member of a Parisian attack which will now have to compose without Waisea, Telusa Veainu will leave a void in the workforce of the club of the Capital. Indeed, the Tongan player played 19 games under the orders of Gonzalo Quesada last season, including no less than 18 in the starting costume, with three tries to his credit. However, the technical staff of Stade Français Paris would have taken the decision not to look for a complementary player, or “medical joker”, in order to compensate for this absence. Indeed, the Parisian club intends to trust the members of its workforce, including the promising Nadir Megdoud, who will discover the Top 14 after leaving the ranks of Rouen, used to the Pro D2. But, with just four winger specialists for the entire first half of the season, which will also see Stade Français Paris kick off their Challenge Cup run against Benetton Treviso on the weekend of 9, 10 and 11 December before a trip to South Africa the following week, Stade Français Paris will hope not to suffer another blow.
