The Paris 2024 Olympics begin in two years. The majority of the events will take place in Ile-de-France.
More … than two years before the start of the Olympic Games in Paris. This Monday, the organization of the event has also unveiled the slogan : “Let’s open the games wide”. If some competitions including sailing will take place outside Ile-de-France, the Ile-de-France region will host a large majority of the events, including the calendar has already been largely defined.
24 sports in Paris
The capital will be the heart of these Paris 2024 Games. No less than 24 of the 32 Olympic sports will be organized at least in part in Paris. In total, 14 Parisian sites have been selected to host events.
In the heart of the city, the Esplanade des Invalides will be the place for the individual events and by the archery teams, both men and women and mixed. They will start on July 24 in the morning before resuming the July 28 for eight consecutive days of competition. Finals will be played on July 28 and 29 and the August 2, 3 and 4.
The marathon athletics event will also finish on the Esplanade des Invalides at the end of the Olympics on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 August.
Les Invalides will also be the starting point for the men’s and women’s cycling time trial on July 27. Their point of arrival will be at Pont Alexandre III. Place where the individual and mixed triathlon events will take place on Tuesday 30 and Wednesday 31 July then the monday august 5. The famous bridge will also receive swimming (marathon) on the mornings of thursday 8 and friday august 9.
> BMX, skate and breakdance on the Place de la Concorde

Still in the center of the capital, the town hall will also take part in these games, being the starting point for the men’s and women’s marathon August 10 and 11.
> Fencing at the Grand Palais
The Grand Palais, currently under renovation, will also be at the heart of these games. The fencing competitions will be organized there from Saturday July 27 to Sunday August 4 just like taekwondo August 7 to 10. The organization hopes to offer “a breathtaking setting” to spectators and athletes in a monument which had already hosted the world fencing championships in 2010.
Further south, the exhibition and convention centre, initially integrated for the Paris Fair at the beginning of the 20th century, Paris Expo, will host three Olympic Arenas. In Arena Paris Sud 1, volleyball events will range from Saturday July 27 until the end of the Games. Table tennis will be played in the Arena Paris Sud 4 from from Saturday 27 July to Saturday 10 August. Finally, weightlifting will be competed in the Arena Paris Sud 6 of the Wednesday August 7 to Sunday August 11.
Other Arenas are transformed for the Games, such as at Bercy for the final phases of the basketball Tuesday August 6 to Sunday August 11. The Parisian multisports facility will also host the trampoline events on the day of the friday august 2 and artistic gymnastics from Saturday 27 July to Monday 5 Augustwith the exception of friday august 2. The handball group stages should in principle take place there before the final stages in Villeneuve-d’Ascq.
> Beach volleyball at the foot of the Eiffel Tower
Porte de la Chapelle, the Arena will host the single and double badminton disciplines of the from Saturday 27 July to Monday 5 August. Also, the complex will host rhythmic gymnastics at the end of the Olympics, Thursday August 8 to Saturday August 10.
The judo and wrestling events will be held in the Champs-de-Mars Arena respectively from from Saturday 27 July to Saturday 3 August and Monday August 5 to Sunday August 11.
At the foot of the Eiffel Tower, spectators will have the pleasure of attending beach volleyball competitions, from Saturday 27 July to Saturday 10 August.
Tennis fans (singles, doubles and mixed doubles) will go to Roland-Garros on the Philippe-Chatrier and Simonne-Mathieu courts and the adjoining courts, from Saturday July 27 to Sunday August 4. The stadium will not just be the field of yellow balls. Boxing will take place on the Suzanne-Lenglen court on the same dates and also from Tuesday August 6 to Saturday August 10.
Finally, the emblematic Parc des Princes will host some of the football matches, including the opening match at 3 p.m. on Wednesday July 24 and the final of Saturday August 10. The tournament will be shared between Marseille, Nice, Nantes, Bordeaux, Lyon, Saint-Étienne and Paris.
In Seine-Saint-Denis
Nearly a quarter of the competitions will take place in Seine-Saint-Denis, the department concentrating the majority of investments for the Paris 2024 Games. towns of Ile-Saint-Denis, Saint-Ouen and Saint-Denis.
> Swimming and water polo
The aquatic center, under construction, will host the diving events of 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. them saturday 27, monday 29, Wednesday July 31 and friday august 2. Each day will have gold medal sessions.
The preliminary phases of water polo will take place from Saturday July 27 to Sunday August 4. Finally, artistic swimming will take place from monday august 5 to Saturday August 10with the exception of Thursday August 8of 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Gold medal sessions are proven wednesday 7 and the Saturday August 10.

> Rugby at the Stade de France
At the Stade de France, the rugby events will take place even before the official arrival of the flame, from Wednesday July 24 a 3:30 p.m.. The competition will continue on July 25 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and of 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. then from Saturday to Tuesday July 30.
The Stade de France will also host the athletics sessions of the Friday August 2 to Saturday August 10.
Finally, shooting events (rifle and pistol; pit and skeet) will take place at the La Courneuve shooting range in from Saturday 27 July to Monday 5 August. The fencing and pentathlon ranking test will take place on Thursday August 8 of 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m..
In the Yvelines
The gardens of the Palace of Versailles will host the equestrian sports of the Saturday July 27 to Tuesday August 6. Modern pentathlon events (riding, swimming, laser-run, shooting and running and fencing, bonus round) will also be held in the castle grounds.
Not far from there, in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines and precisely in Montigny-le-Bretonneux, the track cycling events will be held at the National Velodrome, from Monday August 5 to Sunday August 11. Within the Velodrome itself, the BMX stadium will host the BMX events on Thursday August 1 and Friday August 2of 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m..
The 120 golf athletes will see the events take place at the Golf National de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines in Thursday August 1 to Sunday August 4then from Wednesday 7 to Saturday 10 August.
Finally nearby, the Colline d’Elancourt will be mobilized for mountain biking (cross-country) on Sunday July 28 and Monday July 29.
In Seine et Marne
To the east of Paris, the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium, nestled in the heart of the Ile de Loisirs Vaires-Torcy, will receive rowing delegations from Saturday July 27 to Saturday August 3. The canoe-kayak events will also take place in the nautical stadium for the line race on the mornings of Tuesday August 6 to Sunday August 10.
The canoe-kayak events will be carried out in the whitewater basin on Saturday July 27 to Thursday August 1 and Saturday August 3 to Monday August 5.
In the Hauts de Seine
The Yves-du-Manoir stadium in Colombes will host the women’s and men’s field hockey tournaments. The 12 teams will compete from Saturday July 27 to friday august 9.
On the La Défense side, the Arena will host the men’s and women’s water polo final from Monday August 5th to Sunday August 11th. The swimming events (from the 100m backstroke to the 1,500m freestyle) will also take place in the pool. Sessions will be held from Saturday July 27 to Sunday August 4.
