Rain brought relaxation: forest fire risk is downgraded – Liechtenstein
VADUZ – In Liechtenstein, forest fire danger level 2 applies again. The conditional fire ban outdoors has been lifted with immediate effect. The extensive rain of the past few hours brought relief. However, caution is still required.
The precipitation that fell last night has eased the risk of fire, which is why the conditional outdoor fire ban issued on July 22, 2022 can be lifted again. This was announced by the Office for Civil Protection (ABS) on Tuesday. However, there is still a moderate forest fire risk (level 2), which is why caution is still required when dealing with fires in the open air.
A look at Switzerland shows that Liechtenstein is relatively alone in downgrading the risk of forest fires. This is due to the fact that the situation differs greatly from region to region, explains Stephan Wohlwend from the Office for Civil Protection (ABS) to Volksblatt.li.
In Liechtenstein, rain has fallen extensively and extensively in the past few hours. However, this was not the case in the Graubünden camp. “In no other region of Switzerland has it rained as heavily as in Liechtenstein,” says Wohlwend.
Wohlwend nevertheless emphasizes that even with the now moderate risk of forest fires, caution is still required when dealing with fire in the forest. In addition, it is to be expected that the situation could deteriorate again in the coming days.
