San Marino. The forgotten freeway issue
On Tuesday there was a meeting between the Municipality of Rimini and the Republic of San Marino
MARINO CECCHETTI – The Foreign Secretaries of State have descended from the Titan, Luca Beccarito finances, Marco Gattito Education, Andrea Belluzzito Industry, Fabio Righi. In Rimini to welcome them: the Mayor Jamil Sadegholvaadthe Councilor for sport and heritage Moreno Maresi and the General Secretary of the Municipality Diodora Valerino.
The meeting took place over a month after the ‘press release’ released by the mayor of Rimini in which we read of the opportunity for a “reflection“and a”collective planning, capable of setting aside parochialism and inconclusive polemics, to guarantee a constant regeneration of meaning and redefine a shared value and strategy system“.
We regret that in the meeting – at least from what emerged – the ‘freeway question’ was not brought to the fore in order to decide at least the construction of roundabouts instead of traffic light intersections. Problem that, on the other hand, in June, was highlighted in the aforementioned ‘press release’.
For San Marino the connection with Rimini is fundamental. The country came out of isolation with the railway (June 12, 1932) and then with the expressway (November 25, 1965).
Studio Ambrosetti and McKinsey, commissioned by the San Marino citizens to help them identify realistic development projects, in 2008 evaluated the Rimini-San Marino road connection so shabby as to suggest the creation of an alternative route.
Yet, from what has been made public on Tuesday’s meeting last week, it seems that, in this regard, attention has prevailed for a path reserved for amateur cycling (Ciclovia). And the ‘scheduled’ round for the market?
