Portugal grants 48,000 protections of the highest protection to people who fled war – Observer
As of Monday, Portugal has granted more than 8,000 child protections to other people who fled the Ukrainian children’s war, 28% of which were granted to children, announced the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF).
According to the last update made by the SEF, were granted 48,122 comparable protections for Ukrainian and foreign citizens.s residing in that country, 29,161 were assigned to women and 18.61 to men.
The municipalities with the highest number of protections in order to protect (10,081), Cascais (2,240), Sintra (1,648) and Albu (1,229).
The SEF also indicates that 40,748 certificates for granting residence permits under the environmental protection regime.
This Tax, released after the National Health and Social Security Service and awarded the certified certificates, is the recognized one to start working and access support.

The SEF advances that requests for protection were also authorized86 minors, representing about 28% to the Public Ministry (MP) of the situation of 723 Ukrainian minors who arrived in Portugal without parents or legal representativescases where it is considered that there is no “current or imminent danger”.
In these situations, in which in most cases the children arrive in Portugal with a family member, the case is communicated to the MP for the appointment of a legal representative and eventual promotion of a process for the protection of the minor.
The SEF also communicated to the Commission for the Protection of Children and Young People the Situation of 15 minors who arrived in Portugal do not correspond, but with another legal person or the parents or legal representativerepresenting these cases “current or imminent danger”.
The request for the protection of the balance to Portugal can be made through the platform created by the SEF, available in three languages, without the need to adjust this security service.
However, in the case of minors, it is mandatory to go to a Foreigners and Borders Service desk to confirm their identity and affiliation.
