June tourist numbers in Slovenia reached pre-covid levels
STA, July 25, 2022 – The number of overnight stays in tourist accommodation facilities in Slovenia reached almost two million in June, which is almost twice as much as in the same period last year and a third of the total number in the first half of 2022, when there were 2.3 million tourists. spent more than 6 million nights in the country. The numbers have thus almost reached the pre-epidemic level.
In June, a total of 795,000 visitors were recorded. There were slightly more than 351,000 Slovenians who spent 878,000 nights in tourist facilities, which is about a quarter more than a year ago. Almost 444,000 foreigners generated just under 1.1 million overnight stays, or 56% of all overnight stays.
The largest number of foreign visitors came from Germany (almost 272,900), followed by Austria, Italy, Hungary and the Czech Republic.
Mountain regions were the most popular with tourists in June, accounting for 32% or 632,300 of all overnight stays. Followed by the Coast with 432,100 overnight stays or 22% and spas with 18%.
Hotels are still the most popular tourist accommodation (738,700 overnight stays or 37%). This is followed by private rooms, apartments and houses with 24%, and 18% of overnight stays in campsites.
In the first six months, 2.3 million visitors spent more than 6 million nights in Slovenia, which is about 4.3 million more than in the same period last year. Ljubljana is the leading destination with 729,400 overnight stays, followed by Piran (703,300), Kranjska Gora (402,700) and Bled (325,300).
In the first half of the year, tourists from Slovenia generated 2.8 million overnight stays or 47%, while foreign tourists accounted for 3.2 million overnight stays or 53%. While Slovenians mostly stayed in Piran, foreigners preferred Ljubljana.
