Campidonico-San Marino 2-7 • newsrimini.it
San Marino Baseball plunges back into the Scudetto poule with an excellent 7-2 on the Campidonico field. In Turin, the Champions of Italy, go ahead with Leonora and Morresi’s home runs and finally close the accounts with a seventh three-point inning. The winner is a Quevedo with 10 strikeouts and two hits conceded in five rounds, salvation for Rienzo. There are ten valid San Marino players in total, with two each for Angulo, Leonora and Morresi.
THE CHRONICLE. First inning of study with no arrival on base and in the second the teams pick up pace. San Marino Baseball is the first to do it, going 1-0 thanks to Dudley Leonora’s very long home run to the left. The outs are still with Rodriguez’s certainties and through three consecutive hits: the first two on the right Morresi and Epifano, the first two on the right Morresi and Epifano, the third on the left with Pulzetti signing – 0. A crazy throw allows the runners to advance, but the San Marino attack ends on Batista’s fly.
The Campidonico does not give up and Peloro imitates Leonora by sending the ball to the left very far. Only homer and half disadvantage for the Grizzlies, 1-2. San Marino manages to hit the home starter with good continuity, but it is not always effective. As at 3rd, when the team does not take advantage of Angulo’s single and double a Leonora in a great evening. On the 5th, however, the Titans are good at seizing the right opportunity: Batista opens the innings with a single, steals the second and runs home thanks to Angulo’s good 3-1 win. Step by step San Marino builds the victory. At the 6th the two teams exchange a point. The San Marino 4-1 is signed by Morresi with the solo-homer, while the second Piedmontese point, that of the 2-4, is instead generated, with Rienzo on the mountain, by the single from Giarola and the double from Peloro. The race definitively takes the way of the Titan in a high part of the 7th in which Doriano Bindi’s men score three points. Celli and Angulono earn a basic ball, Ustariz goes with the double of 5-2 and Leonora is intentionally obligatory in first. Then another basic ball arrives, that to Pieternella which is worth the automatic 6-2, and Morresi’s sacrifice sprint for the 7-2. In the lower part the Campidonico does not score, San Marino wins game 1 with a score of 7-2.
