These three kickers could still go
All in all, Red Bull Salzburg’s squad is ready for the coming season. The Austrian series champion could still face three departures.
Red Bull Salzburg has already made almost 80 million euros with the sales of Rasmus Kristensen, Darko Todorovic, Brenden Aaronson and Karim Adeyemi, and Zlatko Junuzovic and Jerome Onguene have also said goodbye. Thus, the 100 million euro mark will probably fall this summer.
One thing is clear: Mohamed Camara can leave the club. Several Premier League clubs are said to be interested, most recently a move to Leeds United. In addition, two other names are traded that were not in the squad in the decisive test against Ajax Amsterdam (2: 3): Antoine Bernede and Albert Vallci.
Bernede (23) signed from PSG in February 2019, experienced serious surprises and could not always live up to the high expectations. In total, the Frenchman only made 49 Bundesliga appearances for Salzburg. Vallci (27) docked from Wacker Innsbruck in the same transfer window and made a total of 61 Bundesliga appearances for the Bulls.
“The squad is largely in place,” says sports director Christoph Freund von heaven quoted, “he is still on the larger side. All positions are filled at least twice, the competition is there. We are happy if we are very well positioned in terms of depth and quality.”
Salzburg invested almost 30 million euros in the squad in the summer, Lucas Gourna-Douath signed from St. Etienne for 13 million euros, Stahinja Pavlovic came from AS Monaco (7 million euros) and Fernando from Shakhtar (6 million euros). Karim Konate (3.5 million euros) is one for the future.
