Man is said to have abused little nephew – and is silent in court
New abuse case? A 55-year-old is said to have abused his nephew when he was just between five and nine years old.
A boy is said to have been severely abused by his uncle before he even started school. The 55-year-old alleged perpetrator, who lives in Cologne on the right bank of the Rhine, is now on trial. The public prosecutor presents him with 14 cases of serious child abuse, which are said to have occurred between 2008 and 2011.
In addition, dozens of child and youth pornographic image files are said to have been found on the man in 2018. According to prosecutors, the images show both boys and girls.
According to the prosecution, the defendant took advantage of his nephew in situations where his sister brought her children to look after him. Initially, the attacks are said to have started at moments when the then only five-year-old was playing computer games.
Charge: Uncle locked himself in bedroom with nephew
Later, the uncle locked himself in the bedroom with the boy and abused him. The trigger for the process was the cousin of the alleged victim: As a witness, he testified that the five-year-old had revealed himself to him. That’s how it got reported.
The accused had nothing more than a disparaging shake of his head when the presiding judge expected him to comment on the allegations. “Of course, that is your right, but we have an expert opinion and a massive situation where a confession can significantly reduce the sentence,” the chairman pointed out.
