Weather – Munich – view of the sky: up and down in the rain and heat – Bavaria
Munich (dpa/lby) – People suffering from heat have little time to breathe deeply: After up to 39 degrees Celsius in Lower Franconia this Wednesday, Thursday will be a little cooler with 26 and 29 degrees. Here and there even rain is possible, in some places thunderstorms with severe showers. However, the precipitation is unlikely to bring any relaxation for agriculture and forests. The 30-degree mark could be exceeded again on Friday, as the German Weather Service (DWD) predicts. “It’s a little up and down,” said a DWD meteorologist in Munich.
After a sunny Wednesday at 31 to 39 degrees, the first rain clouds are expected to move into Bavaria in the evening. “One gets the impression that all of Bavaria is being recorded,” said the meteorologist, referring to the forecasts. On Thursday, showers and thunderstorms are possible, especially from the Bavarian Forest to Werdenfelser Land. “It is always difficult to predict how this precipitation will be distributed.” On Friday it should be mostly warm and dry like midsummer, rain could only fall on the edge of the Alps. Showers and thunderstorms are again conceivable across the country on Saturday night. “Record-breaking temperatures are not expected by the end of the week.”
The rain will hardly bring any relaxation in Bavaria’s forests, “but every drop that falls helps,” said the meteorologist. In Franconia in particular, the risk of forest fires will level off at level 4 – this is the second highest on the scale. “There will be no weather change where it will rain for one or two days.”
