Maria Quintavalle collided on May 27 with a Range Rover driven by a 77-year-old local: the driver is now being investigated for road murder
SAN DONA ‘. Maria Quintavalle, the 86-year-old from San Donà involved in a serious road accident last May 27, did not make it. The old woman died last Friday. The pension had collided with her car against the SUV driven by another old woman who had missed her first and is now under investigation for road homicide. Autopsy arranged.
The woman died on Friday 15 July, after more than a month and a half of agony, in the hospital, where she had been transported in serious condition and where, despite all the doctors’ attempts, she never actually recovered.
The tragic accident, detected by the local police of San Donà, had happened at 10.30 in via Vittorio Veneto at the intersection with via Tolmezzo. Quintavalle who, despite his advanced age, was in excellent health, was totally self-sufficient and still drove without problems, was regularly proceeding on his way in via Vittorio Veneto with his Peugeot 207 when he collided with the Range Rover Evoque driven by a 77 year old resident in Noventa di Piave and domiciled in San Donà.
The front-side collision between the two vehicles had been very violent, both motorists were injured and taken by ambulance to the San Donà hospital, but at the worst it was the driver of the small car, who had suffered very heavy polytrauma including fractures intercostals and multiple fractures to the spine, for which she was also subjected to a delicate surgery with the insertion of plates made at the hospital dell’Angelo in Mestre.
The criminal proceedings opened by the Venice Public Prosecutor’s Office against the seventy-seven-year-old CC driver of the SUV, from very serious road personal injuries, automatically turned into a file for road murder and on Saturday the magistrate on duty, Giovanni Zorzi, seized the victim’s body and an autopsy was ordered to confirm, considering the large amount of time that has elapsed, that the death was due exclusively to the road accident. The assignment was conferred on Monday 18 July in the judicial offices of Piazzale Roma to the medical examiner Barbara Bonvicini: once the examination has been carried out, the judicial authority will issue the nulla osta and the date of the funeral can be set.
Born and always lived in San Donà di Piave, Maria Quintavalle, who was a widow and had no children, had worked all her life helping her husband in the management of his trucking business: among her various passions, she cultivated that for philately.
