Salzburg: Everybody and paramour say goodbye
In the coming year, the Salzburg Festival will have to recreate the two most dazzling roles in Hugo von Hofmannsthal’s “Jedermann”. After “Jedermann” Lars Eidinger announced last night after the premiere of this year’s edition also paramour Verena Altenberger her farewell to the cathedral square, reported the ORF Salzburg. Acting boss Bettina Hering confirmed the two cancellations to the APA.
Eidinger and Altenberger both made their debuts in the summer of 2021 at the game of the dying rich man that has been played in Salzburg for over 100 years and will say goodbye after just two seasons. “Because Lars is leaving, I thought about going too. And for me it’s a great love for the theater somewhere between paramour and ‘everyone’ – and I’ve found it. And that’s why I don’t want to look any further for it,” said Altenberger at yesterday’s premiere party.
Decision on replacement in autumn
Eidinger also made his farewell public at the premiere party, and Hering showed understanding for his decision: “I know his order situation and his offers in the film sector.” The new cast is to be decided in autumn. The considerations of who that will be are already underway. It was also only announced at that time whether Michael Sturminger WILL be responsible for the staging again in 2023, according to Hering in the APA interview.
