England and Spain meet for other women’s EURO in progress, the Lions have won 2-0 in the group stage meeting 2017. Another good omen for the hosts is that they have won both their previous quarterfinals in the competition while Spain were beaten on both occasions they reached the eight latest.
France and the Netherlands also met at this stage as early as 2009, and the Dutch got through on penalties after a goalless draw in Tampere. Spotsparkar were also kind to Austria when they won their only quarterfinal in 2017, that victory came the same day that Germany suffered their only backside at this stage.
Sweden is meanwhile the only team that has reached at least the last eight in all 13 women’s EURO editions, while the opponents Belgium are in the knockout stage for the first time.
