Family holidays. Visiting Marseille with your children: a good idea!
The little tourist train
How to have a global vision of Marseilleswithout tiring the little legs?
By boarding the small tourist train. Which takes you from the Old Port to the Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde basilica, emblematic of the city. Passing by the corniche by the sea, the Palais du Pharo, Fort Saint-Jean…
Guaranteed success with the youngest!

Cruise to the Frioul Islands and the Château d’If
Another activity popular with young people: boat trips. In Marseilles, boats lead you to discover the Frioul archipelago, very close to the city.
Its islands conceal small creeks, a bathing paradise.
One of them is occupied by the Château d’If. An old fortress built under François Iuhin 1524. And transformed into a prison in the XVIIe century. The imagination of the little ones has plenty to wander in this castle!
Do not hesitate to take its walkway. Which offers a splendid view of Marseille and its bay.
Regular shuttles from the Old Port. Round-trip crossing: €16.70 for the Château d’If and the island of Frioul, €11.10 for either destination. Paying access to the island of If: €6. Free for under 26s.
A museum for children
Originality of Marseille: a museum entirely designed for children, the Courtyard of Accoules.
A place to raise awareness of the arts and heritage, housed in the former Marseille observatory. Different themes are summarized in a fun way: Fine Arts, African and American cultures, regional heritage, contemporary art…
With activities and workshops (registration required), make this discovery even more lively. And captivating.
Free.
The beaches
Marseille is a city turned towards the sea. It even shelters several beaches.
The best known: the sandy beach of the Catalans. Close to the Old Port and the city center. Very lively and equipped with a lifeguard station.
The beaches of Corbières are located in the Estaque district. Three sandy beaches, next to each other, where the water is shallow. Supervised and partly shaded, they are equipped with toilets and showers. Ideal for families!
After swimming, you can walk around the Estaque district. Source of inspiration for painters like Renoir or Cézanne.
Another beach suitable for families: that of the Prophet. Below the Kennedy Corniche, it has a lifeguard station and showers.
Thanks to its shallow water, the little ones have a long walk.
Finally, the Prado beach stretches for 3.5 km, with play areas for children, toilets, lifeguard stations, beach volleyball courts…
