A historic agreement has been signed between San Marino and Rimini. Among the first actions on Consolare and cycle route
Consular road, cycle route, airport. But not only: policies related to tourism, ecological transition and economic development. For the first time in history, the Republic of San Marino and the Municipality of Rimini put pen to paper an institutional agreement to form a team and to be able to “weigh” more. Mayor Jamil Sadegholvaad in admitting that in the past there have been “ups and downs” in what has always been characterized as a relationship of brotherhood, now goes straight on in breaking down the obstacles and formalizing a common project for the development of territory. From the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of San Marino, Luca Beccari, green light and from now on an integrated strategic planning on an international scale is born.
The official exchange of notes between the Rimini administration and San Marino took place in an institutional meeting organized at Palazzo Garampi on Tuesday (19 July). The two institutions underlined the importance of undertaking common actions on strategic issues, primarily on traffic, but also attention to health in the face of the experience of the pandemic and looking bigger at the prospects for the airport.
HISTORICAL AGREEMENT – Sadegholvaad: “No more ups and downs, we need a close confrontation”
The most immediate issues concern the road system. Making the consular to San Marino safer and faster is an issue that can no longer be postponed: anyway, explained Mayor Sadegholvaad, work is already underway on the theme of traffic lights along the straight. In addition to the rotations of Statale 16. But also the project of the cycle route will be among the fastest to be carried out: a cycle path that may also have implications of a tourist nature. A green corridor, with a high innovative content, could make the bicycle grow to combine the seaside holiday with an excursion in the Republic of San Marino by bicycle.
Since the beginning of his administrative mandate, Mayor Sadegholvaad has always placed relations with San Marino at the forefront of his vision and agenda. There were first well-wishing inputs, such as the organization of the Gathering of the Alpini, or the Rimini-Titano cycling race, but these are only the foundations of a much more articulated idea. Everyone can, and must, maintain their own identity, yet a “close confrontation” is urgently needed.
An institutional promoting committee is set up to implement the planningconsisting of eight political members representing the Republic of San Marino and the Municipality of Rimini and a technical advice consisting of technician competent on the issues dealt with in the concertation ambitions that will meet periodically to set up and validate a strategic planning process.
