À Bordeaux, le château Descas va devenir une salle de spectacles
But for the time being, it is in the middle of work, first of demolition before recovering its health. The three Bordeaux entrepreneurs who are embarking on this adventure have known each other for a long time and are driven by the same passion for performing arts. Philippe Foix, Éric Abidat and David Ducourneau want to create an essential performance venue in the city center. “It was very important to us to launch a cultural place,” says Philippe Foix. On the other hand, we would not do any programming. The idea is to position ourselves on the niche of discovery by welcoming artists who are starting out or others, more confirmed, who wish to invest in a fairly intimate place, premises, one-man shows. »
Room with 630 seats
After a dispute with the town hall about previous works, which prevented any work for thirteen years, the situation is now completely cleared confirms Philippe Foix. From then on, nothing prevented the three friends from getting started and the work resumed this month, tackling as a priority the renovation of all the walls and ceilings. The building will then be able to accommodate the room of their dreams with a capacity of 630 seats, a rather large stage – 15 meters wide by 10 deep – and immersive with multidirectional sound, 180° screens, and even a broadcast of synchronized scents.
