Wednesday 20 July in Commission III the discussion on the final project for the new infrastructure and the safety of the pedestrian crossing at the airport
The project is progressing for the construction of the new roundabout on the SS16 at via Cavalieri di Vittorio Veneto, a work that is part of the plan of interventions for the safety and fluidization of the circulation of one of the main arteries connecting the city , in correspondence with the inhabited center and the entrance to the Federico Fellini airport. In fact, on Wednesday, the third commission will come to the examination of the final project and the ratification of the outcome of the conference of services on the intervention, through the resources of the Development and Cohesion Fund (FSC) 2014-2020 for an investment of 1,150,000 euros. . The work involves an intersection – nowadays regulated by a three-branch level junction – which, due to its position and size, constitutes an important hub of Rimini south, with via Cavalieri di Vittorio Veneto which represents the first artery of connection to the sea on the border of the municipal area. With the construction of the roundabout it will be possible to streamline, fluidize and raise the safety level of the intersection, with advantages such as the containment of vehicle speed, the reduction of accidents and the best compatibility with the urban context also through an adequate landscape insertion of the new infrastructure with greater vegetative coverage, which will also increase the abatement capacity of atmospheric pollutants. The municipal intervention to the Administration can intervene at the pedestrian crossing at the airport: thanks to the acquisition by the Municipality of some areas, it will be possible to proceed with the construction of a pedestrian connection between the SS16 and Via Losanna and a pedestrian crossing with a traffic light on call to connect to the cycle / pedestrian path on Via Losanna. “With this intervention we are launching a first important step in the path that will lead to the reorganization of the accesses to the Fellini Airport and its development plan, with a view to creating a modern and efficient intermodal hub that connects the airport, SS16, Metromare – comments the commissioner for public works Mattia Morolli – A work that allows us to secure a fundamental hub of city traffic, the southern gateway to the city, while improving pedestrian and cycle accessibility “. With the go-ahead from the City Council, the project will be processed within a few weeks, with the aim of reaching the tender for the construction of the work by the end of the year.
