The heat record in Caen reached this Monday, July 18

the Calvados was on orange heatwave vigilance this Monday, July 18, 2022 like many departments of France. And for good reason. It is really very hot.
a few days before this announced heat peak, a forecaster from Météo France explained to Freedom that “the absolute heat record in Caen was 39.7°C. It was June 29, 2019.
Record reached and beaten
This record was reached on Monday July 18, 2022, with 39.7°C (temperature under shelter) recorded at 6 p.m. to the Caen-Carpiquet weather station. The thermometer even climbed to 40.1°C, it was at 3:51 p.m..
All day, the heat only increased with 23.8°C recorded from 9 a.m. then 31.9°C at 12 p.m. and 39.7°C at 6 p.m.
A hot night
The evening and the night should still be very hot since, according to the buyers of the site infoclimat.frit should be between 25 and 27°C at 2 a.m. in the night from Monday to Tuesday.
Tuesday promises to be still hot but less than the day before. 35°C are still expected around 11am. Temperatures were expected to drop significantly at the end of the day with 25°C expected for 8 p.m. and 20.8°C for 11 p.m.
