“Distinctive heat wave”: the federal government issues a warning
Because of the rising temperatures, the federal government has issued a severe weather warning. It is said that Switzerland is facing a “significant heat wave”.

Western Switzerland, the Basel region and the lower-lying areas of the cantons of Valais and Ticino are affected. Danger level three applies to them. This is the second highest level of danger. In the affected areas in western and northwestern Switzerland and in Valais, temperatures of up to 37 degrees below 800 meters above sea level are expected from Monday, with humidity of up to 50 percent. The warning is valid until Wednesday.
At this danger level, you are warned of feeling unwell and circulatory problems. The Federal Office of Public Health advises avoiding physical activity, drinking a lot and keeping the apartment cool.
Temperatures of up to 35 degrees are reached in Ticino at a humidity of 45 percent. The heat warning for southern Ticino has been in effect since Thursday.

In addition to the heat, there are also the consequences of drought in the Mendrisiotto: How Radio SRF reported on Sunday, Strict water-saving measures apply in the municipality of Mendrisio: Residents may only use drinking water for household purposes, washing cars or water in the garden is prohibited.
