FC Barcelona Lever | Barça activates the second lever and is already working on activating the third
This week the transfer of 15% of the television rights will be signed with Sixth Street
Work is underway on the sale of 49% of Barça Studios. Increase revenue, allow signings to sign up
If nothing goes wrong, Barça will sign this week, possibly on Wednesday, the transfer of 15% of the television rights for 25 years to Sixth Street for an amount of between 320 and 330 million euros.
On Sunday night, there was a final meeting between the representatives of the club and Goldman Sachs, the fund that lent 595 million to the club at the beginning of Joan Laporta’s term in order to save the situation and restructure the debt. Goldman Sachs received 90% of the television rights as a guarantee and had to release the 15% that Barça would cede to Sixth Street. Logically it will not be a change of anything. Barça will have to pay off part of the 595 million. The amount to be amortized could be around 100 million euros. Barça will thus activate the second lever, after having already transferred 10% of the television rights to the same fund for 207.5 million euros.
With these two operations, Barça has fresh money to sign, although it will also pay off debt. He will manage to put an end to the backpack of negative own funds that he carries on his back and will go to the 1-1 rule to register players in the League. But it won’t be enough. have something else to reduce the wage bill or have a greater margin from the League in terms of the money that can be invested in the first team squad. Only then will you be able to register the new signings.
Barça can now invest some 480 million euros in its squad and that exceeds the stay. One option is to reduce it. To do this, he must get rid of all the discarded players and some more, with Frenkie de Jong being one of those on the exit ramp because his departure would free up some 40 million euros.
BARÇA STUDIES
Another option is to be able to increase the amount to be invested in the salary mass of the first team. That does increase revenue. And the economic area led by the vice president, Eduard Romeu, is already working on it. The activation of a third lever that allows the registration of all the signed players is already being negotiated. The chosen one is the sale of 49% of Barça Studios, a line of business that now costs the club money. Negotiations are already underway to transfer audiovisual production and also everything related to the metaverse, NTF and Token. Barça expects to enter some 200 million euros and, furthermore, to find a partner who rents Barça Studios and to be able to obtain profits from the 51% that they will own.
