Avignon Festival | Festival Off – Borders And Walls, contemporary and multidisciplinary: we love it
With “Borders and walls”, the choreographer Michelle Dhallu, wishes above all to address teenagers, a reputedly “complicated” audience. For her: “Whether in music or dance, adolescence recognizes itself in the movement of urban arts. Hip hop and all its evolutions, from popping to breakdance, from rap to trap are the essential references. And this is where I want to search, to move the lines, to discover, to feel, to be touched, shocked, to question, to debate…”
By mixing the circus and dance, this creation surprises with its originality: on the set, metal cubes will serve as a frame and suspension points, ladders with rungs will allow you to climb or even close the spaces. Two acrobats and three dancers will be evaluated in this variable universe like the current world, they will evaluate together in duo or solo and sometimes they will come up against obstacles: the walls that we find at the limits…
Note the original music by Marin Bonazzi, which provides a solid base and contributes to making this show very modern, a show that lovers of contemporary and multidisciplinary dance should not miss!
