Poles know very well what the loss of independence is, what the struggle for freedom is and what the price is for it, emphasized Elzbeta Vitek.
Ukrainians are fighting not only for their own freedom, but also for the Poles, for freedom throughout Europe and the entire democratic world. This was announced on Saturday, July 16, by the speaker of the Polish Diet, Elzbeta Witek, reports Polish radio.
“Ukrainians are fighting not only for their freedom, they are also fighting for us, the Poles, for the citizens of the Baltic countries, they are fighting for freedom for the whole of Europe and the entire democratic world,” she said during a meeting with the residents of Yaroslavl.
She drew attention to how the Poles met the Ukrainian refugees, and noted that “nobody in the world helps those who are leaving the war.”
“The Poles showed a big heart, a lot of empathy, they opened their own houses,” Vitek said.
Vitek emphasized that “Poles know very well what the loss of independence is, what the struggle for freedom is, and what the price is for it.”
“That’s why we treated the misfortune that befell Ukrainians with great understanding,” Elzhbeta Vitek said.
She emphasized that “Ukrainians are now fighting not only for their freedom, but also for us, the Poles, for the citizens of the Baltic States.”
“We cannot leave Ukraine even for a moment, because Putin will not stop at Ukraine,” the politician stressed.
