Schools are looking for administrative assistants – salzburg.ORF.at

The city is looking for administrative assistants to relieve compulsory school directors in the state capital and their secretariats. However, it is still unclear how this is to be found in the empty labor market. The bureaucratic effort has increased significantly, not only because of CoV.
Letters to parents, dozens of calls every day, Corona organization, sick leave, summer school or even apologies cause a lot of administrative work in summer. Five administrative assistants are already working in the city’s compulsory schools, but more are needed. However, it is difficult to hire such forces as quickly as possible, says Mayor Harald Preuner (ÖVP). Agendas for compulsory schools are actually a state and federal matter.
Education Councilor Daniela Gutschi (ÖVP) helped a lot. However, the financial negotiations with the federal government have not yet been completed, says Preuner. “In the meantime, it looks as if the administrative assistants in the compulsory schools in the city of Salzburg will be taken over by the state in the autumn semester of 2022/23. For the 2023/2024 school year, the city of Salzburg is responsible for one third of the costs, the rest must be shared between the federal government and the state of Salzburg. But the negotiations are not yet closed.”
Preuner: “The city makes advance payments”
In view of the empty labor market, however, it will be difficult to find these skilled workers, Preuner admits. “The city of Salzburg is leading the way here without assuming any costs that they do not have to bear. Because the staff for compulsory schools is actually a matter for the federal and state governments, but not for the city. we make advance payments because we think it makes sense,” says Preuner.
The city will advance 100,000 euros, but Mayor Preuner expects personnel costs of 300,000 euros for the nine administrative assistants. That would result in a gross annual salary of 33,000 euros for a full-time job. According to the latest information, around 70 administrative assistants work at 201 compulsory schools in the districts.
