Telfs – Sunday, July 17, 2022, 7:32 p.m
The fans of SV Austria Salzburg have to get creative in the first round of the ÖFB Cup to cheer on their team.
Since the opponents of Mozartstadt, SV Telfs – who had home rights – had registered the game “due to security-related incidents at the last game” as an event closed to the public, no spectators were admitted to the Telfs sports field.
Around 120 Salzburg fans did not miss the trip to Tyrol – and got their money’s worth. After a small detour, she reached a piece of woodland above the sports field, from where she could watch the game and cheer on her team.
In order to avoid a possible forest fire through Bengalos, the fire brigade was informed of the whereabouts of the Salzburg fans to be on the safe side, and 50 police officers were also present.
The trip also paid off in sporting terms for the Austria fans: Salzburg won 4:2 and is in the second round of the ÖFB Cup for the first time since 2015.

Unfortunately, the security authorities deny the away fans the available view of the field, while the home club has to forego income. Sense? #ghost games pic.twitter.com/wjG5v4TqW2— DWIDSOCH (@DWIDS_Podcast) July 17, 2022
