Portugal has already reached peak flight cancellations
The case is no different for Portugal, as European countries face the chaos of air travel with flight and flight cancellations.
The CEO of Portugal Airlines TAP announced that flight cancellations at Portuguese airports have already reached their peak. SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.
“Looking at our scheduled flights and all the factors at play, we see that we’ve peaked, we don’t have to wait for August as our peak started in July, and so did all the airlines. said Christine Ourmières-Widener, CEO of TAP.
He also referred that TAP is working to stabilize the peak in winter, as the country faces a rapid recovery. Lisbon is recovering quickly compared to other airports, although in recent weeks it hasn’t made any improvements.
Such a situation poses a problem, although the airport has made changes and recruited more crew due to a lack of personnel and spare aircraft.
Asked by reporters in São Paulo about a new airport in Lisbon, the manager said the airline would welcome the decision.
“I have only been in Portugal for a year, the history of the airport began before me, we think TAP needs a vision, any decision is welcome” Ourmières-Widener.
Cirium’s data shows that Europe is the closest flight-related region as airlines avoid employee operation and other issues. The world’s airlines have canceled more than 25,000 flights from their August schedules – 60% of them to Europe.
As of July 14, a total of 15,788 European flights scheduled to operate in August have been canceled – representing just 2% of the entire flight schedule for the following month.
Data from Syria also shows that the majority of flight cancellations for the month of August were made by Turkish Airlines – 4,408 departures were canceled in the past week alone.
British Airways follows a list with 3,600 canceled flights, followed by easyJe with 2,045 canceled flights. Additionally, Lufsa with 1,888 canceled flights and Wizz Air 1,256 flights with complete cancellation are among the airlines with the most canceled flights.
