‘I didn’t have a voice on the erasure of Cuschieri’, says the head of One Productions
The chairman of the Labor television station One threw the ball in the court of his own party due to the surprise cancellation of Manwel Cuschieri’s regular busy radio program.
Cuschieri, a presenter of One Radio who has been serving Labor propaganda since the 1990s, served up his unexpected walking charts this year when he set up his awareness show on the ‘Direct Line’ grasroots.
But Jason Micallef denied it was part of the decision to cancel the program.
“I did not have a say in this decision. I wasn’t even consulted. All political programs on One Radio and One TV have always been under the direction of the Labor Party. Theirs is the last word of the shows, including the presenters, ”said Micallef, former General Secretary of the Party.
Micallef escaped from press reports suggesting he was behind this decision. “Cuschieri is one of One’s best communicators of all time. It has been there in the good and bad times from the very beginning. He worked hard for what he believed in, his Labor principles. And he never demanded any form of payment for the programs. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ”
Cuschieri’s show was canceled in June, and the decision was announced by Cuschieri himself.
“It was not my decision but a decision that was communicated to me. I am always available for the Labor Party. I was willing to continue to provide my services but there was nothing I could do. I will stop here for now and if I feel the need to give you more details, I will.
“In the meantime, I thank you for your support and attention and I apologize for not meeting. It’s time for the next step. I will keep you informed. ”
Cuschieri was a passionate defender of Joseph Muscat’s legacy on One Radio, a mark of his relentless loyalty to Labor.
