Fewer summer days than usual in southern Norway
It has been abnormal to have summer days in several places in the south of the country this year, figures from the Meteorological Institute show.
Among other things, there have only been eleven and twelve summer days so far this year in Stavanger and Bergen, respectively, he writes NRK. The two cities had an average of 26 and 33 summer days in the years 2000-2019, shows an overview NRK has made.
In Oslo it has been 22 summer days so far, while in Kristiansand it has been 21. A summer day is defined as a day with a maximum of 1 millimeter of precipitation and a temperature of over 20 degrees during the day.
Climate watch at the Meteorological Institute, Hans Olav Hygen, believes it has not been the best summer for everyone, but that there are exceptions.
– Often when the weather is bad in the south, it is warmer in the north, and vice versa. The temperature in large parts of southern Norway has been below or around normal, while in several places in the north it has been above normal temperature, he says.
