Debut with toast for Pier Verbilli in the Italian Earth Championship in San Marino
SAN MARINO. The 2022 edition of the competition of the Republic of San Marino will be remembered for the excellent organization as well as the great charm built around the race to better celebrate the first fifty years of this rally which has now entered the history of international motoring. In such an important and highly competitive stage, the Modenese Verbilli (photo by Mario Leonelli) has been able to improve test after test, increasing the feeling on very different dirt roads compared to those he is used to. Despite the lack of experience, the difficulties related to the dust raised by the competitors ahead and the scorching heat, Verbilli took Lorenzo Costi’s front-wheel drive Renault Clio, cared for by Pro Line, to second place in the class. An important result for the Publi Sport Racing riders, especially for the points won for the Rally Cup in the Emilia Romagna, Marche, San Marino areas and for the Michelin Zone Rally Cup and R Italian Trophy championships. “It was a beautiful but very difficult race – said Pier Francesco Verbilli – I think, perhaps, the toughest competition I’ve ever participated in. Although we started two minutes between a competitor and the other, the dust raised by the previous cars created major problems of visibility to which was added a scorching heat in the cockpit. All this made our race even more exciting and gave satisfaction to the arrival celebrated with second place in the class and important points for the area. I thank Marinella Bonaiti, very good at the notes as always, Lorenzo Costi and the Pro Line for the excellent Clio made available, Publi Sport Racing, my sponsors who support me and my family who allow me to race “. After the experience of the San Marino dirt roads, Verbilli, navigated by the expert Marinella Bonaiti, returns to the race on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 August, finding the tarred bottoms of the special stages of the Salsomaggiore Terme Rally.
