Two of the most beautiful ocean pools in the world are in Portugal
One is on an island and the other is in a Mediterranean-style village. Both are worth several visits.
The elevations undoubtedly invite many (and good) dives. With so many options, however, it can be difficult to choose which waters to venture into. If you’re part of the group that can’t resist the salty sea, but feels more comfortable when there’s no risk of the ground slipping away, ocean pools are the best option. Lucky for you, great wonders of the world there are impressive specimens, able to reach those with demands. In Portugal, there are two of the most beautiful.
Who guarantees it is the prestigious “Condé Nast Traveler (CNT) who, thinking of swimmers who live undecided between the possibility of enjoying all the comfort by the pool — without having to keep an eye on kayakers and kitesurfers — and the emotion for a swim by the sea, elected some of the most spectacular representatives of the best these two worlds have to offer. Thus, a ranking dominated by Australia was born, in which the ocean pool at Azenhas do Mar beach, in Sintra, and Porto Moniz, in Madeira, also shine.
About the one located in the Mediterranean-style village with a picturesque cliff, less than an hour’s drive from the capital, the publication highlights that it is just a few steps away from “its impressive white-painted houses” that “you will find a natural pool that replenishes itself” with fresh water from the Atlantic Ocean”.
“Sintra is not a popular tourist destination, but with its cliffs, natural aqua-green tons and a spectacular seafood restaurant included in the offer, it is well worth a visit,” he adds.
The second space chosen in our country is located on an island. Porto Moniz was carried out over the course of thousands of years of lava realization process. The baths were designed with steps to facilitate access built around the water’s limits.
There are handy lockers for storing valuables and also protection. The water is crystal clear and with fish that come easily. However, at high tide, waves can break through the walls, so be careful.
