Storms are heading for Slovakia: They may be accompanied by wind, warnings are in effect in several regions
According to meteorologists, severe storms associated with heavy downpours and gusts of wind are currently occurring in the Trenčín region. Hail may also occur. “The probability of the method of material damage is high,” the institute stated that intense rain can cause a temporary significant rise in water levels and the flooding of streams and dry riverbeds.
Water can also run down slopes, flood cellars, underpasses, underpasses or wash away roads. “Strong winds can cause damage to vegetation, forests, buildings, power lines and other objects. Flying debris and unsecured objects pose a risk to human health,” meteorologists warn. Hail can damage vegetation, but also roofs, greenhouses or cars.
The first level of storm warning currently applies to Myjava, Piešťany, Topoľčany, Partizánske, Prievidza and Ilava districts. SHMÚ also warns against strong winds in western Slovakia, which can reach a speed of 65 to 85 kilometers per hour for a short time.
On Thursday, meteorologists warned of severe cold weather. It should manifest itself already at night and will be accompanied by rain in some places, especially in heavy areas. However, it does not have a significant effect on mitigating the drought.
