For our Operations Middle East and North Africa (MENA) division we are looking for a highly committed and dynamic person to be our next:
- JUNIOR PROJECT MANAGER – Middle East Desk, Operations MENA (100%)
- Location: Geneva, with occasional trips to the region,
- Start date: October 2022
- Term: 24-month fixed-term contract, renewable
The role
Reporting to the Deputy Chief of Operations MENA, the Junior Project Officer will have responsibility for supporting the development, implementation and oversight of programs and projects in DCAF’s countries of operations in the Middle East and North Africa.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Supporting the development of DCAF programs related to security sector reform and governance in the Middle East and North Africa, including assistance in the conception, design, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programs and projects in the Middle East and North Africa.
- Contribution to financial reporting and financial procedures.
- Adaptation of project implementation to changed local developments
- Support for branch offices and partners in project implementation.
- Create and edit regular project reports for donors
- identify partners and experts; Negotiations on fees and service descriptions, draft contracts and follow-up work to ensure satisfactory implementation
- Organizing and conducting missions in the region as required
- Provide additional support throughout the MENA Division when required to be determined by line manager.
Minimum requirements:
- An advanced university degree in law, political science, international relations, development, security studies or a related field
- Up to 3 years of professional experience in public sector reform or management, preferably in security and/or judicial reform (internships not included)
- Proven track record of managing projects, preferably in the MENA region
- Fluency in English (both oral and written); Knowledge of Arabic is a strong advantage
- Strong presentation skills and experience of working as part of an international and multicultural team
- Cultural sensitivity, ideally familiarity with the MENA region
- The prerequisite is Swiss or EU citizenship or a work permit for Switzerland that is valid at the time of application
