FRANCE: Strasbourg wants Kadewere; A disgraced Zimbabwean in Lyon
By British correspondent
Top-flight FRENCH team Strasbourg have reportedly set their sights on Zimbabwean international Tino Kadewere who is out of favor with rivals Olympique Lyonnais.
According to the media, Strasbourg targets Kadewere as a replacement for the striker Ludovic Ajorque, who is about to sign at Hertha Berlin for a fee of €15m,
Although impressive under former Lyon manager Rudi Garcia, Kadewere struggled to earn playing time under new boss Peter Bosz.
Bosz has shown he doesn’t count on the Zimbabwean for the new season either.
During Tuesday’s pre-season games against Dynamo Kyiv, the coach indicated his intention to give each of his players at least 60 minutes.
However, the Dutch technician ruled out the Zimbabwean from the first of two friendlies even though he was playing with a B team and then a C team.
Kadewere is said to be keen to leave this summer and he has made that known to the coach as well.
Lyon have reportedly received more than a dozen loan requests for the player, but the club are instead keen on a permanent sale.
The 26-year-old is under contract until June 2024.
Strasbourg have already sounded out Lyon and Kadewere over a move and expect a deal to be struck between €7m and €8m.
Lyon are targeting a €10m sale after signing the striker from Le Havre, where he finished top scorer in Ligue 2, for €12m in 2020.
