Boycott at the Oktoberfest in Munich: Wiesn landlords serve up “Layla” | Regional
Munich – “She’s prettier, younger, hornier”: We won’t hear these controversial lines at the Oktoberfest in Munich!
The Wiesn landlords remove the number 1 hit about the “Puffmutter Layla” from their tents.
︎ The two innkeepers Christian Schottenhamel (59, “Festhalle Schottenhamel”) and Peter Inselkammer (52, “Armbrustschützenzelt”) have dumped Layla: “I and Peter Inselkammer will not play it,” says Schottenhamel to BILD.
The Wiesn host continues: “We put it in our host Whatsapp group that the song is controversial.”
Schottenhamel: “I don’t play it because I don’t like it. We gave our bands the instruction: You don’t need to practice that because it won’t be played.”
Now the largest folk festival in the world has its “Layla” boycott!
The song about “Puffmutter Layla” is considered by many to be sexist. It was banned at the Kiliani folk festival in Würzburg (BILD reported).
Now also in Munich…
