Rimini’s maritime traditions come to life in a busy calendar of proposals. From 16 July the five appointments with trafficking fishing start
Rimini has always been a seaside city, since the ancient Ariminum, with its port, became an important maritime hub for merchant traffic and, in a short time, a thriving maritime colony, as evidenced also by the splendid conservative Roman mosaics in the City Museum. Rimini has always maintained its bond with the sea firmly, keeping alive the memories and traditions that are part of its face as a seafaring city. Precisely these traditions linked to the sea are at the center of a series of initiatives and events that take place during the summer: trafficking fishing, widespread museums, religious re-enactments, but also guided tours in the places of the Navy, up to the discovery of the Adriatic. aboard traditional motor ships or sailing boats. There are still many fishermen said to all the common fishing practices and, on some occasions, ancient fishing techniques are still practiced, which can be witnessed and even ‘participated’ as in the case of the re-enactment of “trafficking” fishing. This is a fishing technique known since ancient times, a type of “poor” coastal fishing, in use on the Adriatic coast until the 1950s. In the name of safeguarding local traditions, every year it is re-proposed in a practical exhibition on the Rimini beach by the non-profit association “Rimini for all”. In 2022 there will be five events in which you can participate: from July to September. Those wishing to become a fisherman for a day and relive the ancient tradition of the beach in the afternoon, around 3.00 pm, to prepare for the descent and participate in the retreat of the nets on the following days: – July 16 at Bagni Ricci di Miramare (142) – 31 July at Bagno 68 (Lagomaggio area) – 21 August at Bagno 89 Caldari – 4 September at Bagno 68 (Lagomaggio area) – 18 September at Bagno 106 / b in Rivazzurra Cocobeach (in these data the meeting is anticipated at 14). At the end of the commemoration, the organizers offer a tasting of blue fish roasted on the grill according to the ancient Rimini tradition, with piadina and Romagna wine. To discover the world of the Rimini seafaring and fishing traditions, you can find information and ideas in the widespread Museum of the Rimini Seafaring. An open space, in the suggestive riverside of the artists between the historic fishing huts and the murals inspired by the stories of the sea, a place recently set up together with the schools of Rimini and the protagonists of the history of the local navy, which connects the places with each other symbol of the sea, scattered throughout the city, such as the Vecchia Pescheria, the Lighthouse along the canal port, the shipyards of the shipwrights, the Fish Market, the Covered Market, the ancient seaside village of San Giuliano, the Museum of City with an important archaeological section dedicated to the sea, the section huts, up to the main study and enhancement centers, including the Viserbella Museum and the Vele al Terzo Association, which collaborated in the intervention.
