Collision with two cars: trial for attempted murder in Salzburg
Dodging was no longer possible: In March 2019, a now 29-year-old Turk with his two-tonne, high-horsepower car in Flachgau crashed into the car of another driver who had tried to turn the steering wheel. His car overturned and landed on its roof. A second car also hit Turkey and maneuvered it into the ditch. The result was three passengers, some of whom were seriously injured.
On Wednesday, the 29-year-old had to answer to a jury in Salzburg. The accusation: He drove unchecked and with the intention of suicide into the oncoming lane and into the cars on Lamprechtshausener Straße, which is why the charge is threefold attempted murder.

As it turned out after the accident, the Turk, who was born in Salzburg and lives in the Innviertel, had 1.32 per thousand alcohol in his blood and was under the influence of cocaine. In addition, he had previously called his parents without a hands-free system and argued with his father about unfinished work. The 29-year-old is said to have said that he was sorry. He will drive into the oncoming lane and kill himself.
The public prosecutor’s office relies on statements by the accused’s ex-girlfriend, who apparently overheard the conversation. Although the woman does not speak Turkish herself, she learned about the content from her mother. “He cried. And said, look what I’m doing to you. I keep disappointing you. It doesn’t make sense anymore,” the ex-girlfriend said.
