Venice 79, selected the 8 Final Cut films in Venice
The eight films who will participate in the 10th edition from Final cut in Venicethe project that since 2013 supports the post–production of films from African countries and from Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine and Syria, as part of the Venice production bridge of the 79. International Film Festival (31 August – 10 September 2022) of the Venice Biennale, directed by Alberto Barbera. The workshop aims to offer the opportunity to produce films, still in the production phase, to professionals in the cinematographic field in order to facilitate their post-production and promote their access to the market.

The 10th edition of Final Cut in Venice will consist of three days of work (from 3 to 5 September 2022) at the Lido of Venice during the 79. Film Festivalin which copies of the eight selected films will be offered to producers, buyers, distributors, production companies and festival programmers.
The first two days of the workshop (3 and 4 September) will be dedicated to the screenings of the eight films, while a special session of meetings one by one it will be organized among the selected projects and the professionals accredited to the Venice Production Bridge on 5 September.
Two further projects have been selected within the France in Focus.

Behind the scenes by Afef Ben Mahmoud and Khalil Benkirane (Morocco, Belgium, France, Norway, Qatar, Tunisia)
Black light (Lumière noire) by Karim Bensalah (France, Algeria, Qatar) – France in focus
Inshallah a boy by Amjad Al Rasheed (Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar)

The burden (Le Fardeau) by Elvis Sabin Ngaïbino (Central African Republic, France, Congo DRC)
The Cinema Cemetery (Au cimetière de la pellicule) by Thierno Souleymane Diallo (France, Senegal, Guinea) – France in focus
A Fidai film by Kamal Aljafari (Germany, Palestine, Qatar)
Land of Women (Ard El Banat) by Nada Riyadh and Ayman El Amir (Egypt, France, Denmark)

Final Cut in Venice will end with the attribution of awards in services or in moneyaimed precisely at the economic support of films in the post-production phase.
This is the list of awards:
– for the sixth year, La Biennale di Venezia will offer a prize worth € 5,000 to the best film in post-production. The La Biennale di Venezia Prize will be awarded by a jury made up of three members indicated by the Director of the Exhibition.
The other awards offered by supporters – which include, among other services, color correctionsound massage, original soundtrack, creation of a DCP master and subtitles – will instead be attributed at the sole discretion of the Director of the Exhibition, assisted by them and by the heads of the institutions involved:
– € 15,000 approx color correction of a feature film offered by Laser film (Rome) up to 50 hours of work (including technician);
– € 15,000 offered by Mactari Mixing Room (Paris) for the sound mixing of a feature film (up to 12 days of work, mixing technician excluded);
– one of the selected projects will benefit from the film composers represented by Otico and the original soundtrack they will create. The production of the original score will include all relevant services, such as sighting session / composition / orchestration / template / final production, for a total value of € 12,000;
– For a feature-length fiction film an MG of $ 10,000 or a feature-length documentary film a MG of $ 3,000 in marketing, advertising and distribution in the Arab world offered by MAD solutions for an Arab project (with the exception of projects already carried out by MAD Solutions);
–Film Title (Paris) will offer up to € 5,000 for coloring; up to € 3,000 for the production of a DCP master, i-Tunes, Google or Netflix file creation; up to € 2,000 for French and English subtitling (translation not included);
– up to € 7,500 for the creation of a DCP master with subtitles in Italian or English, made available by Sub-Ti Ltd (London);
– up to € 7,500 for a version accessible to sensory impairments, i.e. subtitles for the deaf and audio description for the blind and visually impaired including audio subtitles in voiceoverin Italian or English (subtitles and the described audio track will be provided for inclusion in DCP), offered by Sub-Ti Access Srl (Turin);
– € 5,000 powered by Red sea bottom (International Red Sea Film Festival);
– € 5,000 for the acquisition of biennial broadcasting rights by Rai Cinema;
– $ 5,000 for an Arab project offered by El Gouna Film Festival;
– € 5,000 in refunds for post-production services carried out by companies based in an EU country or OEACP (except South Africa) offered by International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF) to a feature film made by a director from one of the ACP countries and produced or co-produced by a company based in an ACP country;
– “Coup de cœur de la Cinémathèque Afrique” Award, offered by Cinémathèque Afrique of the Institut Français (Paris). The prize consists in the acquisition of non-commercial and non-exclusive broadcasting rights for a period of 7 years for a value between € 4,000 and € 6,000 depending on the genre, the duration of the film and the number of territories available;
– participation in the construction costs of a DCP (€ 2,500), offered by Amiens International Film Festival;
– participation in the construction costs of a DCP (€ 2,500), offered by Freiburg International Film Festival;
– one of the selected projects will be eligible for the label Watch out for movieswhich will present the film to distributors and festivals affiliated with EoF and which will contribute to the advertising of the film for a value of € 2,500 on the occasion of the world premiere in a category A festival.
