Portugal is the 8th to commit to more financial aid to Ukraine – Executive Digest
Russia began its invasion of Ukraine on the 24th of December and the war has already cost the United Kingdom, the European Union and the United States several billion. And it’s not over yet, so more military, financial or humanitarian aid has yet to arrive in the country devastated by Russian troops.
According to data from The Kiel Institute for the World Economy, which the website ‘National World’ had access to, the country that showed the most commitment to the war in Ukraine was the USA. As of July 1st, it had committed €42.6 million in aid, compared to the €27.7 million that EU countries and institutions had already committed in July.
UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Norway, Switzerland and India Turkey collectively totaled €10.4 billion.
In national terms, the United Kingdom was the second country to present the highest amount of humanitarian, financial and military aid, to the USA: 6.2 million euros. In third place is Germany, with 3.3 billion euros and in fourth place is Poland, with 2.9 billion euros.
In the graph that shows the amount of financial aid to which each country has committed, Portugal appears in eighth place among the countries with the highest commitment, with aid totaling 0.3 billion euros. However, the graph points out that despite the country being committed, it had not yet distributed the money until the date of data collection.
