Étudiants en ostéopathie à Bordeaux : « Encore un été gâché »
President of the student council, the student who…
President of the students’ office, the student who has just finished his fourth year at the Institute of Osteopathy of Bordeaux (IOB) has the feeling of reliving the same anxiety as in 2021. Flashback, July 22, 2021, the Ministry of Solidarity and Health, following the advice of a national advisory commission, had decided to renew for five years the approval of 22 training centers in osteopathy and to withdraw nine of them, including that of the IOB.
” We put that back ! »
The bad news had fallen in the middle of the summer, the students had already paid the substantial registration fees. Result: the reputation of the IOB was damaged, nearly half of the workforce deserted the IOB before a sudden reversal of the ministry which had granted a provisional approval in the face of the mess issued.
“Those who stayed at IOB had a rotten summer of 2021 before the provisional approval finally came,” testifies Clément Colnard, also trainer – and player – at Stade Bordelais Rugby. “We didn’t know if our year would still be validated, if we had to look for new accommodation, pay other costs…”
“The start of the new school year was over and suddenly, we were able to spend our year quietly”, continues the future osteopath. “But here, we’re doing it again! Even last year, they admitted that it was rude to have announced their decision only at the end of July. And when we see the sorrows made at the Institute of Osteopathy of Bordeaux, it is only administrative. This is administrative relentlessness! Because on the care side, the patients of the educational clinic do not complain, the osteopaths with whom we carry out our internships seem satisfied and all the graduates are doing well. »
The green light
But the approval was again not renewed in 2022. However, on May 24, speaking of “errors of assessment”, the administrative court of Bordeaux agreed with the IOB on all points and canceled the non-renewal of the 2021 accreditation. The jurisdiction gave the Ministry of Health one month to review its copy and re-examine the application for accreditation. Since then, no news.
Clément Colnard knocks on all doors, is on his fiftieth email without an answer. Like all his comrades, he is just waiting for the green light. “Because this year, no one has registered yet, for fear of having to go elsewhere,” sighs the president of the BDE. “We are at an impasse in the face of a ministry that does not respect court orders, it is illegal. »
