D: missio Munich supports projects with over 12 million euros
missio Munich funded 772 projects with 12,174,133.22 euros last year. This is the result of the annual report for 2021 that has now been published. More than half of the sum went to countries in Africa with 6.7 million euros, 3.9 million euros went to countries in Asia. In Oceania, Papua New Guinea received the largest amount of funding with 129,200 euros. Overall, the aid organization was involved in 55 countries.
The number of first-time donors for missio Munich in 2021 was 5,341, the same as in 2020. The total amount of donations fell by 1.1 million to 7.2 million euros. Collection income in the churches also fell slightly compared to the previous year. In the case of inheritances, legacies and donations, on the other hand, the relief organization recorded a significant increase. The annual balance sheet shows what the money was used for, down to the last cent.
Both the local project partners and the annual donation seal of the German Central Institute for Social Issues (DZI) guarantee that the missio donations are used appropriately, according to the aid organization in its broadcast on Tuesday.
At the same time with the annual report against missio Munich the accountability report Solidarity campaign “Priests help priests in mission” (PRIM) before. According to this, priests in Germany supported their confreres in Africa and Asia last year with 1,918,570.70 euros. 7,265 priests including one-off maintenance help.
