Coronavirus: After PCR, there are 841 positive people in Slovakia, but antigen tests also revealed the infection
On Monday, July 11, health workers in Slovakia performed 2,017 PCR tests, which revealed 841 positive cases of the coronavirus. 300 patients were hospitalized in hospitals last day.
The National Center for Health Information (NCZI) reported on this on its website covid19.nczisk.sk, stating that 2,426 targeted tests were also carried out.
As can be seen from the website korona.gov.sk, antigen tests confirmed another 317 positive for the disease COVID-19. The positivity of PCR tests represented 41.7 percent and antigen tests 13.07 percent.
Over the past day, three victims of the coronavirus have been added. The total number of victims thus reached 20,163. 11 patients need artificial pulmonary ventilation support in hospitals, 25 people are in intensive care.
Experts warn of an increase in the number of people infected with the coronavirus. How should we behave on vacation and after returning home?
The number of COVID-19 cases is gradually increasing again, Slovakia is also recording the numbers. The panel of experts makes several recommendations that are based on the measures taken so far and that can help protect yourself and your surroundings.
Caution is in order
“At the time of the summer holidays, caution and responsible behavior is the place to be. Although most of the diseases caused by COVID-19 do not have a severe course, it should not be underestimated even in view of the variability of the virus,” the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic (MOH of the Slovak Republic) said in a press release.
Larger numbers of infected people are also reported in Slovakia, but according to the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic, it is not yet a rapid increase. In the case of serious upper respiratory diseases with symptoms of colds, coughs, sore throats, it is important to stay at home and not spread. Medical professionals cannot do a self-test.
Compliance with ROR measures
“In case of a serious condition, contact your doctor, who may indicate PCR testing,” informs the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic. The recommendations of experts include the use of a mask or respirator in places with a high concentration of people, caution when traveling, maintaining a distance of at least two meters or avoiding hugging.
Experts also call for frequent hand washing and disinfection, as well as complete vaccination. “We primarily protect the most vulnerable groups of people, we treat elderly people with weakened immunity responsibly,” urges the ministry.
Before contact with them, especially after returning from holidays, it is appropriate to test, use a respirator or at least a mask. In addition, the obligation to wear respirators in medical facilities, pharmacies and social facilities applies.
Slovakia reports an increase in cases of the BA.5 omikron subvariant, we should continue to be on the lookout for two groups of people
For the other two weeks in Slovakia, we are registering an increase in cases of the BA.5 omikron subvariant. Cases of omicron subvariants BA.4 and primary BA.5 are increasing across European Union countries, with Portugal at the peak of the wave. This was said by the director of the Institute of Health Analysis, Matej Mišík, at the briefing after the government meeting.
According to Mišík, experts assess the risk of re-infection with the coronavirus as high. He also considers the speed of the spread of the coronavirus to be a high risk.
According to experts, the risk of hospitalization is low. Despite the overall overall risk to the population, seniors and people with chronic diseases continue to be cautioned.
Mišík does not foresee the introduction of restrictive measures. In addition to the protection of the most vulnerable sources, the primary goal of anti-epidemic measures is the preservation of so-called white medicine and/or no restrictions on the economy and social life.
The expert advises to get vaccinated against the coronavirus before the summer vacation, not all countries are doing as well as we are
Despite the significantly improved epidemic situation, travelers should continue to monitor information on the development of the pandemic before going abroad.
According to the epidemiologist of the Ministry of Health and doctor Petr Sabaka, not all countries are as good as Slovakia, but this is not a reason for concern.
Monkey pox is spreading around the world
The expert recommends that the team that has not overcome and are not vaccinated be vaccinated against the disease of COVID-19 before going on a summer vacation abroad.
“There is no need to observe any special measures. In the case of monkeypox, it is necessary to remember that the virus is transmitted through close contact with the infected,” Sabaka pointed out on Thursday, adding that it is not transmitted through the air like COVID-19.
“If a person is not exposed to relevant contact with several people in areas with a higher incidence of smallpox, such as London or Madrid, the risk of infection is minimal,” said the epidemiologist.
Delta spread very quickly
According to Sabak, this summer is already safe for travel after two years. “Last season was mainly affected by the fact that a new variant of the coronavirus, which was not present in Slovakia, was spreading in Europe. The delta variant was much more contagious and deadly,” he recalled. Therefore, people were encouraged to vacation in Slovakia and to get vaccinated while staying abroad.
“The situation is different this year, because the individual variants and subvariants are more or less evenly distributed in light of the COVID-19 diseases. At the moment, there is no variant or subvariant that we could introduce in Slovakia,” said Sabaka. According to him, good news for vacationers is also the fact that there are currently no countries where the coronavirus spreads significantly more than in Slovakia.
Vaccinated, you can enjoy your vacation to the fullest
He claims that people do not have to worry about a significantly worse situation when traveling abroad. When in contact with other people, they recommend finding certain measures, although they are not significantly restrictive.
“Those who have already overcome the disease of COVID-19 or are vaccinated, if the omicron subvariant of the coronavirus, which currently dominates everywhere, appears even on vacation, then the disease should not have been serious and should not have major consequences,” assured Sabaka.
According to him, people who have overcome this disease and are vaccinated with three doses basically do not have to worry and can enjoy their vacation as in the pre-pandemic period.
Users of “older” electronic OPs will have a problem from the new year, they do not authorize a single document with their signature
At the end of this year, there will be a problem for hundreds of thousands of citizens who use their electronic identity card (eID) for electronic communication with the state.
All those to whom it was issued until June 2021 will be able to provide a qualified electronic signature via eID only until the end of 2022.
Invalid certificates on “legacy” eIDs
The civic association Slovensko.Digital drew attention to this again on Tuesday, saying that at the end of the year, “older” eID certificates for electronic signatures will be automatically invalidated.
According to the non-governmental organization, the situation is all the worse because the relevant authorities are not actively alerting the affected citizens to this fact.
They call on the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic, as the issuer of identity cards, to start active communication with citizens as soon as possible.
“According to the information available to us, this problem concerns more than two hundred thousand active users of eGovernment services, as most submissions to the public administration must be confirmed by a qualified electronic signature. We recommend that the affected citizens apply for a new ID card, with which they will also receive the relevant new certificates,” said Ľubor Illek from Slovensko.Digital.
Long queues for the new OP
I expect that by the end of the year there will be a difficult-to-manage demand for this situation, even a rush. “In Slovakia, a total of about 250,000 identity cards will be issued in half a year, so to solve this problem, it would be necessary to increase the number to roughly double,” he pointed out.
The need to confirm the validity of certificates on “older” ID cards according to the “non-government” is not caused by a mistake of the Slovak authorities – it results from the end of the validity of the security certification of the chip installed in them.
Since this problem has been known for a long time, we consider the lack of public communication about this situation and unprepared solutions to deal with it to be a fundamental mistake. This problem has been discussed on professional forums for more than a year.
The interior of the resort is searching in the dark
“The situation is all the more complicated because in the near future it may start issuing a completely new type of identity cards that can be used using the NFC contactless protocol. However, the Ministry of the Interior cannot guarantee when this change will occur, nor whether it will be before the end of the year,” noted Illek.
According to the regulation of the European Commission, they should have been issued as early as August 2021, which could ensure a technically suitable and cost-effective solution to the current situation.
Slovensko.Digital also reminds that a simpler mechanism for confirming submissions has been enshrined in the eGovernment Act for several years – the so-called authorization by clicking, which is applicable wherever only a handwritten signature is required in the paper version of the submission.
Easier features for users
This confirmation of submissions is very simple for users, they do not need to install and control the method of an additional application and similar to other services over the Internet, for example, when buying through a store’s website.
In this procedure, the citizen must also be logged in on the website of the office, and when you create a submission, you simply confirm (authorize) it by clicking on the button.
“In this way, all ID card holders or the nearest Slovakian user can be on their mobile phone. We call on the authorities whose electronic services are widely used – especially the Financial Administration of the Slovak Republic – to implement this function and make it available to citizens,” added Illek.
The organization also calls on the Ministry of Investments, Regional Development and Informatization of the Slovak Republic to make click authorization available for all types of submissions, where it is applicable on the Central Public Administration Portal and its portals by the end of 2022.
