Roord saves points for holders Netherlands
Jill Roord’s equalizer ensured that the Netherlands began their title defense with an exciting draw in Group C against Sweden.
The defenders suffered a major blow when goalkeeper Sari van Veenendaal was injured in a collision with colleague Stefanie van der Gragt, and the duo had to be picked off due to injury.

Sweden took a well-deserved lead in the 36th minute through Andersson who struck home from close range after an excellent play from Kosovar Asllani.
At the start of the second half, however, Jill Roord, fresh from a productive season for both Wolfsburg and the Netherlands, came to the level after a Vivianne Miedema pass was deflected into her path.
The Netherlands holds the record for never losing their opening match since the group stage was introduced in 1997, making three draws in a row after Germany were held 0-0 by Sweden in 2017 and the Netherlands in 2013.

It was a long and arduous journey to the final for the Australians, where five of their six matches went to five sets while saving a total of eight match points along the way.
It was also the first Grand Slam crown for the duo, who became the first all-Australian team in 22 years to win the men’s doubles at the All England Club since the famous Woodies – Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde – won their latest title.
The Croatians saw a 13-match winning series end after reaching the final after triumphs at The Queen’s Club and Eastbourne. They were also on an 11-match run at The Championships as defending champions.
