RBS sports director Christoph Freund: “Leipzig war not an issue” – football
While the successful trainers in Salzburg have often left ship in recent years, there has been one constant in the “bull stable” since 2015: Christoph Freund.
The sports director of the series champion extended his most recent contract until 2026, which clarified an important personnel issue in the city of Mozart.
The man from Salzburg was also said to have talks with his “big brother” from Leipzig, in an interview with the “Crown“But Freund emphasizes that it was just hot air.
“Salzburg is great fun”
“It wasn’t an issue for me. I just feel extremely comfortable here, I’m having a lot of fun in Salzburg,” said the 45-year-old about the Leipzig rumours.
While his own personnel situation has been clarified, there are still some uncertainties in the squad planning in Salzburg. First and foremost is Mohamed Camara, who once again developed strongly in the last season and became one of the most important Salzburg players.
Can Salzburg keep the Malian? Friend: “He may stay. I don’t want to raise hopes unnecessarily, but that’s not out of the question. He still has three years of contract. But we’ve always said that we won’t put any obstacles in his way , it should pass for all parties.”
Adamu exit? “None of it”
There are also rumors about ÖFB talent Junior Adamu, the 21-year-old is said to be interested by TSG Hoffenheim. Freund dismisses: “There is currently no club with which we have had concrete talks about junior. So there is nothing to it.”
With a view to the coming Bundesliga season, Salzburg’s goal is clear: the tenth championship title in a row.
“We’ve been champions nine times in a row. If we didn’t aim for the tenth title, something would go wrong. Our cup series (4 wins in a row, note) is almost skewed. Here, too, the goal is to win it to win again,” says Freund.
