Master concert of the music association Oßweil: Four trombonists in Latino fever
Ludwigsburg. During an intensive rehearsal weekend in the canteen of the August-Lämmle-School in Oßweil these colors were recently audible and Hille played the solo passages in this 16-minute piece with great sovereignty. He’s the master of his instrument. Whether as a solo trombonist in the Badisches Staatstheater, in big bands or in the orchestra of the Roncalli circus, Hille knows how to use his instrument in a unique way. His trademark is the extremely emotional, but also virtuosic approach.
Musical journey through the world
“It’s great fun to play with the orchestra,” he confirms. There is another reason why the Offenburg native, who lives near Karlsruhe, is coming to Swabia to look forward to a great evening: the new Oßweiler conductor Susanne Bader is also a trombonist and also musically active in the Karlsruhe area. Together with Steffen Westermann and Rüdiger Haupt, Bader and Hille form the “Blechreiz” quartet. At the master concert, the four trombonists, together with the town band, give their best swinging Latino sound. The pass with its rhythm and joie de vivre in summer, South America is always worth a musical journey.
This also applies to sounds from Ireland, which the composer and arranger Guido Rennert has put together and which also represent a highlight of the evening. Rennert, who belongs to the Bundeswehr Music Corps, also writes a commissioned composition for the 100th anniversary of the Oßweil Music Association next year. Other stations at the master concert are: the Balkans, the USA and England. And finally it goes to the sunken Atlantis.
It’s great to be able to play together again
The rehearsals are characterized by the joy of being able to play together again after a long Corona break, with the more than 80-strong orchestra having used each of them to present themselves in the past few months. For example last summer on the market square or while recording for an orchestra competition in Geneva, where the band won first prize.
The young instrumentalists have also stayed the course, at the master concert chairman Uwe Appel welcomes 21 musicians who are playing for the first time. “It was difficult preparation,” says Uwe Appel about the 17th master concert, which had to be postponed several times due to Corona. And so it is that Susanne Bader, who has been the musical director in Oßweil since September 2019, is now conducting her first master concert after almost three years and is happy that it will start soon.
